9 man Turbos

Ok, in the last 24 hours my AK has lost to: A3, Aq (2 times) AJ (2 times), J10, 105s, and k9, and that's just off the top of my head and not counting flips. Basically what has been happening is I'll play between 6 and 10 tables at the 6 dollar level, get up about 30 bucks because nothing horrendous happens, then I lose the 30 back when my best hands take horrendous beats, the I'll sorta break even, then nothing dumb happens and I win the 30 back, rinse and repeat. Anybody willing to look at some of my 9 man turbos and tell me if I'm just playing stupid? I'll of course pay you back with the same kindness.

Cascade vs tile

For you guys that play on pokerstars and multitable, do you cascade the tables or tile them?

WCOOP DON?

I wish such an event existed. We gotta start posting some hands. I've been playing way too many of these stupid DONs so I don't have much. Let's get it going guys!

Keeping the Streak Alive.

Today I only played 5$ double or nothings. I was really trying to break the streak of bad luck and horseshit beats, but not today. In DON it's very important to keep out of coinflip situations for your entire stack, as win or lose, it's a negative EV situation. With that being said, my coinflip loss streak is at about eleven. It's pretty exciting. I'm sorry that I've yet to post any hands to analyze, and I may not get to do it this weekend because I'll be out of town for most of it, but I promise, that's what I started this for, that's what I hope others will do, and that's what I will be doing.

This Site is Getting the Best of Me

This blogspot is so confusing; it's driving me up the wall. I am now officially following my own blog, and can't figure out how to undo that. I'm following 2/3 people who are following me, but don't understand why if I click on their name it doesn't connect me to their site. My next post will involve actual hands, I promise.

Poker, Of Course

This will be the blog I'm using to talk about poker. If you guys want to use it to talk about your kids, your wife, your day, your religion, your politics and everything else under the sun, then that's fine, but when you come here I can almost guarentee it will be about poker.

I've decided to sort of section off from PVT in hopes that if I get a small group of people together then it will be easier for everyone to make each other better. All of the hands that I played will be on my blog, where as on PVT it's in the forums and mixed in with everyone else's. I just feel like that if we get a small group of people (as opposed to everyone who has signed up for PVT) then it will be easier for everyone to get better. It will be more intimate. In addition, I think I will be more trusting of the advice I receive. If all of this sounds ridiculous and stupid and you'd rather stick to the PVT forums then power to you.

I think there's a way to like follow each other's blogs, so as soon as I figure that out I'll start doing it.

With all that being said, I guess I'll put a tiny bit about myself. I'm currently a senior at Baylor University. I have been sorta kinda playing since highschool, but it was with my grandparents where nobody (myself included) understood betting in relation to the pot. If the board was 723, and I had J10, then all I needed was an 8 and a 9 to make a straight and sometimes that was good enough to keep me in. It wasn't until about November or December that I started taking it a lot more seriously. Something about doing something I enjoy, for money, appealed to me (crazy, right?) I absolutely love talking about the game and it would be amazing if I could play for a living, but I'm not nearly good enough for that (hence I'm attending Baylor.)

I started out with playing 9 man SnGs (regular, not turbo,) but I got pretty bored with that. I'm a goal oriented person, so I did my best when I was trying to get to a certain $ amount so that I could move up. When I got to the 20$ games I got completely dominated, but that was before I joined PVT. At this point, I rarely play 9 man SnG. I play the 5$ Double or Nothing games because it's just such easy money, and would love to be able to dominate the 10$ games. I've started playing .05/.10 cash games, and do really well 3 tabling (thanks to Poker Tracker of course, 60 trial, get it!) but I have a hard time playing because there's no end in sight, and I always find myself thinking, "Way to go, now try not to shit this away." I've recently started playing 27 and 45 man SNGs, it's a MTT without it being epically long. I'd love to be able to crush MTT, but I'm just not there. With the 27 and 45 SNGs, I do pretty well. Once I get to the final table I'm almost guarenteed to make the money because (thanks to PVT) my final table skills are far and away epically better than your average 5$ player who is ecstatic that they've actually made a final table (Like, oh my gosh! This is so exciting!) I guess that's it.

I also feel obligated to mention this: I'm sarcastic. Like, really sarcastic. I'm sarcastic when I'm frustrated, I'm sarcastic when I point out someone doing something epically stupid, and I'm sarcastic when I do something really stupid. I'm just mentioning this because try as I might to contain it, it's bound to come out and because you can't hear my tone of voice or anything there's no real way of knowing. With that I guess all I have to say is...Shuffle Up and Deal. Oh, and Welcome to the Lion's Den.
